| England Appearance for Peter |
|
Under 16 skipper, Peter Weightman, was the only Cumbrian representative in the North squad selected to play in a recent match against the Midlands at Denstone College, Uttoxeter. Peter, who is normally a loose forward or centre, was chosen on the wing but played a key role in the North's 20 points - 16 success and contributed a number of good runs, as well as two try saving tackles. On Easter Sunday, Peter played for England at U16 level against Belgium at Wellington College, Berkshire where he scored two tries. A product of the club's youth development programme from the age of five, Peter plays for the county and has now been chosen as a member of Newcastle Falcons' Academy, starting in September. He will continue his education at Gosforth High School. His parents, Alan and Liz Weightman, said 'Peter is a credit to the Club and provides further evidence, if that was needed, of the benefits of time and money invested in its youth policy'. Congratulations from everyone at the Club.
