Now there is a rumour circulating on the High Hill Garage circuit that Andrew Horsburgh has been seen in Temple’s buying new boots and shorts and the rumour says he’s playing on Saturday
If its true and following the return of McPherson – who’s next – Martin Stewart & Brannie ?

Having beaten Cockermnouth in the first round Keswick now play St. Bees at home – match will be on Wednesday 4th October at the Club – dont have a kick off time yet
Our 1st Round match will be against Blackpool on October 1st
Kick Off 3pm – should be a great game – Blackpool play in N.Lancs 1 (same as Kirkby Lonsdale) – difficult to know how their season is shaping up as they have only played 2 games – won one lost one – so at the very least we will have more mtach fitness,

Keswick 2nd XV won 44-7 away at Creighton – this was our first visit to their new ground – apparently very nice indeed
Keswick 48 Netherhall 10
In pefect weather with the sun shining Keswick really turned on the style and completly outclassed a young Netherall side. The pack dominated in set & loose play and the back’s linking, handling and support play was first class
ÂÂ
My man of the match today Matty Roper – superb work at scrum half, some great tackles and some great breaks well done

In the First Round of the Daily Mail Under 15’s Cup Keswick School beat Kirbie Kendal by 2 tries to nil at home
The Under 18’s Keswick beat Cockermouth in Round 1 by just  5 – 0
Awful, awful weather that turned the ball into something more often produced at Port Sunlight and meant a very stop start game with neither side able to control the ball. Cockermouth were worthy opponents and Keswick failure to turn terriorial possession into points made it a very tense last 5 minutes as Cockermouth gained ground to earn a scrum on the 5 mtr line – Keswick held out – just !
Highlight for me was the ref – one Neil Curuthers that well known “gentle” man of Netherall & County – it really is a novelty to hear Neil shout “hands off in the ruck” – still you know what they say – do what I say not what I do – well done Neil you are tremendous recruit for Cumbrian refereeiing

1st XV win 30-10 away at Moresby
2nd XV win 19-17 at home to Wigton
Moresby extended their normal welcome but some good refereeing and early sin bining turned the game into a relatively friendly affair – Keswick always looked dominate and controlled the game in the backs and forwards – the score flatters Moresby as Keswick failed to convert 4 tries and took their foot off the pedal in the last 15 minutes

U15’s 50-0
U18’s 47-5
Both against Workington
A superb day with bright sun, lots of support and some sparkling rugby followed by Sausage & Chips – what more can we ask for
It wasnt just the level and size of the win it was the huge size of squads we put out today the U15’s played a full 15, had 5 on the bench AND lent Workington 5 players !
ÂÂ
There will be much tougher tests over the season but this was a great way to get back in the right frame of mind
Well done all the players & Workington for keeping going and trying until the final whistle

1st XV  – Keswick 5  Millom 13
2nd XV Keswick 12 St.Benedicts 12
ÂÂ
Glorious day for two home games – pitches looked superb
Both games highly entertaining – 1st XV should have won but a determined Millom team rebuffed Keswick for almost the whole of the 2nd half – a very adept side at hands in the ruck on the refs blins side !
2nd XV biggest problem was how to play the 25 players that wanted a game – Richard Standring did a great job of trying to give everyone a fair go – but it probably worked against us as it was difficult to get any consistent play – moment of this game was the return of Ian McPherson – he looked very impressive (until he actually had to do something !)
