Keswick quickly put last weeks disappoinment behind them and in the first 15 mins blitzed Creighton in attack & defence. The game was played on the School playing pitch due to waterlogging at the Club. By half time Keswick were 25-0 up and whilst in the 2nd half Keswick eased up a little Creighton never looked like scoring – indeed they mounted very few serious attacks and its difficult to understand from the way they played today why they are doing so well in the league.
The 2nd XV game was cancelled as Netherhall couldnt raise a team
As I was away at Ambelside doing duties for the 2nd XV I can not comment about the 1st XV result – perhaps someone would like to post their thoughts about the was it wasnt penalty conversion
Anyway 2nd XV lost in a mud bath 11-0 away at Ambelside who are definately starting to come back after a couple of years of reeally struggling to find players – they now have a very enthusastic group of players from St Martins College who are making a very psoitive impact on and off the pitch (its a bit like a Student Union Bar at Ambeleside !)

Anyway the big game the 3rd Round Cup match against Aldwinians which we lost 13-14 – but whilst this is what of course will be in the records from all that I hear the debate about did we in fact win will be the subject of bar chat for a few years. The problem arose in part because the CLub pitches where underwater this morning so the decision was rightly taken to move the games to the school fields – however the posts on the school pitch are not very high (probably only 20 foot) – so when with 2 minutes to go Keswick were awarded a penalty that would give them the lead hopes were high. Jon Hine ’s kick soarded into the air – the problem being the ball was way above the top of the post and therefore difficult to decide if it had or hadnt gone through – bottom line was the ref said it hadnt – many Keswickians are convinced it did – anyway the result is in – the lads played superbly and have now showed their talents twice against higher division clubs – so well done – anyone got a video of the kick ???
despite the score line it was a pretty flat game with the team appearing slightly hung over from last weeks efforts – when they did turn it on Barrow offered little resistance – still not to have played particuarly well and still score 40 points can not be all bad !
